The Old Metaframe Tank

I found a picture of the old Metaframe fish tank that Dad bought for Mom in 1960 something. This is the tank that started my  life long love affair with water and fish.

Metaframe aquariums were made out of glass with stainless steal frames. The bottoms were slate. The tank in the picture is a  29 gallon with a full flourescent hood. The hood was  also made out of stainless steel. The tank had an under gravel molded plastic filter powered by a Silent Giant air pump.

This picture was taken in New Orleans, Louisiana at Christmas time between 1962 and 1965. The tank just happened to be in the picture due to the placement of electrical outlets. This was a happy find while searching through old photo albums.
